October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
While cancer awareness is an all year round focus, October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness: a time to promote screening and to fundraise for breast cancer research.
Consider holding a breast cancer awareness night and celebrate ‘everything pink’ using our Pink Ribbon bingo ink dabbers and assorted pink bingo paper. Award a free buy-in package to the attendee who, by round of applause, is the best “Pretty in Pink!” Whatever you do, have fun – and yes, celebrate our breast cancer survivors!

Remembrance Day (Canada)
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11
Celebrate and honor the military veterans of our Armed Forces! Patrons can invite a veteran to a special patriotic bingo event to thank them for their service. This holiday is always observed on November 11, as it recognizes the formal agreement that marked the official end of World War I (on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, allied forces and came together to sign the peace treaty). You can award a free buy-in package to the 11th veteran or player in line!

Thanksgiving
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28 (USA)
MONDAY, OCTOBER 14 (CANADA)
There is so much to be THANKFUL for, and we can reflect on the positive people and events in each of our lives during this holiday!
Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation by a recipient of another's kindness. Taking the time to feel gratitude may improve your emotional well-being by helping you cope with stress too – one study found that gratitude was linked to fewer signs of heart disease!
Mindful awareness of the people and things you are grateful for can go a long way in ing your mental and emotional health. To be more mindful, you may incorporate a daily practice where you identify what you are thankful for and sit with this feeling for awhile. Gratitude is a practice that can take time and dedication to build – once you do, you may feel more joyful, at ease, ed, and satisfied with your life!
To put the Thanksgiving spirit into practice: give back to your local community and consider hosting a bingo night where players bring in non-perishable food items. All items can be donated to a food bank or shelter, and the players can enter to win a free buy-in package at a future bingo. Everyone wins!
